What we do together

Activities with a purpose.

Our programme can change across the year. Each gathering selects activities that fit the occasion, available resources and the association's adopted plans.

01Heritage

Cultural showcases

Members present clothing, music, artefacts, stories and traditions from different North West communities.

02Dance

Bottle & traditional dance

Social dance, live rhythm and guided demonstrations give members a joyful way to participate and learn.

03Food

Food festivals

Community tables celebrate achu, corn fufu, njama njama and other dishes prepared and shared by members.

04Celebration

End-of-year celebrations

Families close the year together with music, recognition, reflection, food and plans for the year ahead.

05Learning

Heritage education

Children, young people and newcomers learn about geography, language, values, history, food, music and dress.

06Belonging

Family & newcomer gatherings

Welcoming events help people build friendships, understand life in Belgium and feel part of the community.

07Support

Member support

Meetings make space for welfare check-ins, practical help and solidarity during difficult moments.

08Impact

Give-back initiatives

Members discuss and organize transparent cultural, educational or charitable actions that benefit communities.

Inside a gathering

A meeting can move through five shared moments.

Not every event follows the same programme, but this rhythm shows how NIB combines welcome, culture, celebration and action.

  1. 01

    Welcome

Greetings, introductions, newcomer welcome and community updates.

  2. 02

    Learn

A cultural story, heritage lesson, language moment or member presentation.

  3. 03

    Experience

Music, dance, clothing, games, demonstrations or a cultural showcase.

  4. 04

    Share

A communal meal, conversation and time to build relationships.

  5. 05

    Act

Member support, project planning and clear next steps for the community.
